To the Overwhelmed Mom Who Thinks She Has No Time to Heal
By Dr. Emily (DPT)
The baby is finally asleep.
You look at the clock: 1:32 PM. You have 45 minutes of quiet, maybe. Your mental "to-do" list flashes in your mind: should you shower? Eat a real meal? Sleep? Or... heal your core?
The idea of rolling out a mat for an hour-long "postpartum workout" is so laughable, you just collapse on the sofa instead. You feel exhausted, defeated, and a little guilty. "I'll start tomorrow," you tell yourself, knowing you probably won't.
As a mom and a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I know this feeling. I call it the "All-or-Nothing Trap."
We believe that if we can't dedicate a full, focused hour to recovery, it's not "worth it." We see high-intensity "bootcamp" programs and think we need to be high-energy and "crush it" to see results.
This isn't just unrealistic—it's the #1 reason women fail to recover. And it's why I designed my entire Maven Mother platform on a completely different philosophy.
The "Nap-Time" Method: Why 10 Minutes is Better Than an Hour
Here is the clinical truth: Your body, especially when it's healing, does not need a grueling 60-minute session.
It needs consistency.
10 focused minutes of the correct, clinical exercises, done consistently, is 1000x more effective than one 60-minute session that you do once, dread, and then quit for three weeks.
This is the entire foundation of my programs. I call it "Nap-Time" Micro-Learning.
Every single lesson in "The Core Restore" and "The Blooming Body" is just 5 to 10 minutes long. That's it. You can do it while the kettle boils. You can do it while the baby is on their playmat. You can do it in that tiny "nap-time" window.
But Is 10 Minutes Really Enough?
Yes. Because we are not "working out" in the traditional sense. We are "re-training."
In those 10 minutes, we are doing focused, clinical work:
We're re-establishing the "brain-to-muscle" connection.
We're waking up your deep core and pelvic floor.
We're retraining your breathing to support your system.
This isn't about getting sweaty; it's about being effective.
The System That Fights Overwhelm
I knew that short lessons weren't enough. The system had to be different, too.
We Prevent Overwhelm: My programs use a "Safety-First 'Drip' Feature." This means I only give you one week of content at a time. You can't look ahead at 100 videos and quit. You just have to log in and do today's 10-minute lesson. That's your only job.
We Build Momentum: To fight the "I'm not seeing results" feeling, we use "Weekly Check-Ins." These simple self-assessments help you see your own progress and build the confidence to keep going.
So, to the overwhelmed mom who thinks she has no time: You do have time. You have 10 minutes.
You don't need more "motivation" or "willpower." You just need a system that was built for you, not for someone with a personal trainer and a 2-hour-a-day window.
Your healing doesn't have to be another source of stress. It can be the 10 minutes of calm, focused self-care you desperately need and deserve.
With support, Dr. Emily
